Abstract

The practice of polygamy can be carried out by all levels of society, including members of the police. The purpose of this research is to find out the rules of polygamy for members of the police in terms of marriage law. The type of research in this paper is normative with a statutory and conceptual approach. The research specifications are analytical descriptive. The data used is secondary which consists of primary legal materials and secondary legal materials. The data analysis method was carried out qualitatively. Polygamy regulations for members of the police force who are Muslim are regulated in Article 4 paragraph (1) of the Regulation of the Indonesian National Police No. 6 of 2018 whereby police officers are prohibited from having polygamy and are only permitted to have a wife or husband. For this reason, it is recommended that members of the police who are Muslim not practice polygamy because the sanctions are quite severe.
