Abstract
This research aims to determine the overview of permanent directional separation on traffic flow on Jalan S.Parman Medan. The writing method used in writing this final assignment is using the observation method and descriptive method. By using this method the author directly makes observations in the field to collect data. The things that were observed were the number of vehicles passing, the direction of traffic and side obstacles on the right and left of the road section being observed. Recording of the frequency of side obstacle events was carried out for 7 days at the same time as collecting traffic volume data, where this survey also used a counting tool and was based on the rules of the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI). With this method, it is hoped that it can provide information to readers regarding the influence of road separation on the S. Parman road section, of course in accordance with MKJI regulations, both the road itself and its ideal capacity. Changes in road performance after permanent directional separation is created can be seen from capacity. Free flow speed, travel time and density. Road capacity was 1567 pcu/hour, free flow speed increased by 3.15%, travel time was 3.6 seconds shorter than before or increased by 14.4%, and density decreased by 27.73%. Congestion on Jalan S.Parman has not changed as seen from the service level value of 1.75 which is in position F, which means obstructed flow, low speed, volume above capacity, lots of stops or can be said to be traffic jams, also seen from the activity of obstacles. side with a value of 2102 incident weight and is in the VH position or very high side resistance.
